2012-08-31: Walk With Him
Walk With Him
"Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet?" Amos 3:3
At times because we are human we do well to agree to disagree. You cannot change that person, and neither can they change you. But there is a person, there is our God with whom we cannot agree to disagree. Jesus did not say, "You have your opinion, and I have mine... it's all good." No, rather he said, "Without me you can do nothing." John 15:5
We pray, "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." How can the kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy live in us unless we agree to walk with the Lord?
It's not walk with God or he will squash you like a bug. No, rather it is his kindness, his goodness, his love, his pleasant ways that calles us. It's when we determine to walk in our own way that we are burdened and harmed. Isn't it good to know that he calls us to his love? He is always forgiving, waiting for you to agree, to surrender to his love.
We have trouble in this world, Jesus told us that we would. But in him we have peace and fulfillment. How can we walk with the Lord unless we agree to meet him on his terms, according to his ways? He is our peace, he is our life, and in him there is love that never fails. Let's pray.
Father, thank you for sending Jesus that we can be filled with your Spirit, that we can agree with you and walk with you. Thank you that we can do everything we do through Christ Jesus who strengthens us in walking, one step at a time, according to your will, according to your love toward us. Amen
"Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!" Psalm 34:8
